Commute!

Hey, I drive a lot. 100 miles daily, about 25,000 miles per year. Primarily because the taxes in the state I reside in (PA) are about half of what the state I work in (NY) are. Even with the high cost of fuel and wear and tear on vehicles I still save money. My current ride is a sort of Anti-Prius. A 2009 Infiniti G37x. Gets about 27 mpg if I baby it and uses premium gas. I've been running 4 cylinder commuter cars for many years. I was looking for something new, this fell into my lap in Dec. 2010 and we've been rumbling along ever since. I drive very conservatively, but sometimes you just have to loose the 328hp beast. The AWD was a real boon last winter as well. Got me through all of the snow storms and all of the torrential rains we've had this summer. I'm a gadget geek as well so I run an iPhone 4 with the Waze app. Waze is a really great social networked commuter tool. You get live updates of radar traps, traffic jams, etc. It has GPS nav with text-to-speech as well. And it's free! I highly recommend it. I also run a radar detector, the Escort RedLine. This has fantastic detection range and so far I have not gotten any tickets, so it has probably paid for itself. I have been lately running a dash cam to capture interesting things I see along my route. I upload videos to YouTube when I get anything interesting.

Well, that's it. My other interests are guitar, photography, electronics, PCs, cars, etc.
